The Champions in Education annual banquet is the Foundation's primary fundraiser each year. The 2011 banquet was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Elks Club in Estherville, Iowa. This year we were proud to honor Tony and Jody Condon as our "Champions in Education." Thank you to all who attended the banquet.

Foundation funds are used to enhance the quality of education within our school system by providing the students with better educational opportunities. The support shown in the past and the contributions that have been received by the Foundation prove that you and other members of the community believe in and support the cause of education.

Local businesses have been providing sponsorships to insure that banquet costs are covered. This allows the funds received from ticket sales to be used toward the growth of the Foundations contribution to ELC students' education. Tickets for the event are $15 per individual. Persons may choose an individual sponsorship for $200. Those donating at the $200 individual sponsorship level receive two banquet tickets, are named as banquet sponsors in Foundation publicity and are publicly recognized at the banquet. Their names are added to the banquet sponsors list on the key plaque displayed at the high school.

Please take this opportunity to support the ELC School Foundation. To become a 2012 banquet sponsor, forward your check for $200 to the Estherville Lincoln Central Community School Foundation, 315 North Sixth Street, Estherville, IA 51334.

Your support is appreciated not only by the Foundation, but also by our future leaders who are today's students. We look forward to seeing you at the banquet each year.

Each year the Foundation awards "key" grants to teachers and teaching teams for special items/trips that enhance and augment the regular curriculum. In 2010 grants totaling nearly $4,800.00 were given out. Items included DVD's, data labs, Current Science Magazines, CD's, books and software. The Foundation contributed toward trips to Living History Farm, the Science Center and Children's Theater in the Twin Cities, Pioneer Village in Worthington and the Sugar Shack in Algona. As contributions increase, more "key" grants can be awarded.

The ELC School Foundation also helps to pay for swimming lessons for elementary students each year. In addition to the ELC Foundation Scholarships given, the Foundation presents monetary awards for the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the graduating class.
